LONG TERM EYE REDNESS

Dear surf doc.

For years now I have had a problem with irritated red eyes.

I do on occasion smoke some herb which isn't good for the white eyes but they seem to be just as bad as when I'm not puffing.

I can have normal looking eyes and then have something very simple like a fan blow air into my eyes and they get realy really red...almost like I've been hit in the eyes by one of the three stooges.

I religously have to use clear eyes to keep my eyes clear but I hear from many people eye drops like visine and clear eyes are horrible for your eyes.

Help!!

First of all, pot smoking is dumb so stop!
Second, red eyes are common and artificial tears are a better first line treatment. Of course salt water exposure and wind and sun can cause the problem. Using visine all the time isn't necessarily bad. It depends on many factors like blood pressure and other medical conditions.

Could be a skin growth (I don't know the fancy medical term), but they can be removed...

You are referring to a pterygium.
That is a fleshy growth on the medial part of the eyeball that can get red and puffy and gorw over part of the cornea.
