keeping cuts dry when surfing!!!

This continues on from an earlier topic really!!!!

This has always been a bit of a bain so if anybody can help then that would be great!

The thing is that I often cut my feet when surfing either from walking over reefs or catching them on my fins. If your away this can really **** you off as you feel you should stay out of the water to let them heal, but sometimes this is possible if the waves are good and so you end up going in and the cuts never heal! What i want to know is, is there a method of covering your foot/feet to stop the water getting to the cut! surley pro surfers cut their feet all the time, and I can't see that they can keep taking weeks out of the water all the time?

I have tried several tricks myself: from a product called 'second skin', which I am sure is just nail varnish, and burns like a bitch if it gets in the cut to vaseline over plasters that always come off!
I have seen in vids that Pro's often seem to have what appears to be gaffer tape around their feet, and I was wandering if that works??

If anybody can help let us know,

Thanks Thorney

Here's my technique which an old ozzie guy told me in Sri Lanka, and it's the only thing I’ve found works, especially in humid countries where these things fester...
First, pour hydrogen peroxide into the cut. clean it WELL, hurts like a bitch but you gotta get all the sand, bugs and crap out of there. Next get some antibiotic cream. Fucidine seems to work best, but it tends to need a prescription in most countries (not indo ) so get the strongest stuff you can find over the counter. Stuff the cut with the cream, then put a small fold of gauze (also antibiotic if you can find it) over the cream (about the same size as the cut). Lastly get some strong surgical tape, the good stuff, like cloth...not duct tape ... then tape the area well at least an inch or so around the cut.

The main thing is CHANGE IT EVERYDAY! and it'll heal no matter how much surfing ya do...sorry about the long post, but I hope this helps.

P.S. you from the UK?
