First part of this video shows Devon Howard surfing a Josh Hall long fish. I briefly had a 6’8 quad fish from Josh Hall and it was a really nice board but not what jumps to mind when I think step up. There seems to be a lot of variation among his fish models though

Not really an answer to your question but maybe it gives you an idea about sizing. My DD is a 5'2 Ross Concepts Tropical Keel and my 'step-up' is a 5'6 Christenson fish.

As I recall there is lots of info about the Josh Hall long fish and other long fish designs on Jamboards. There are a number of good threads on there to glean information from.

I got a lot of respect for Josh Hall and CC but their boards are very overpriced imo.

I guess over priced is the wrong way to put it because they’re is a very clear market for them and people are willing to pay it so it seems if the market dictates prices then it’s not over priced.

Solid beautiful boards for sure.

agree, especially the amount of work that goes into Josh Hall's boards. The twin keel fish I have is an absolute work of art. Beautiful color and glass work. I expect to have it and be able to surf it for many, many years. I will say that I haven't had the best experience with the durability of the 2-3 CCs I've had.

I'd put Burch and Lovelace in this kinda premium category too. Smart business for a shaper if you have the demand to support the pricing.

I have a 10'0" twin keel fish that I ride in place of a longboard (not Josh Hall shaped, but same idea), I paddle it sometimes too. Essential board for California IMO, and I always have a blast on it. It surfs anything, honestly.

I have one too.

I’d never go back to a single fin Log when it’s small

My 9’8 twin keel is incredibly fun. Catches anything and goes sooooo fast. It’s like riding a dragster.

If anyone has pics of a shorter J Hall fish, I’d love to see them

most of what I’ve been able to find have been pics of his long fish
