If it gets up to 35'-40' with sets up to 45' as hyped, will the WSL...
A. call it off?
B. If they do run it will the gals participate?

14ft at 14sec isn't THAT big, is it?
Caldwell has 14ft 16sec on his forecast, my translation would be under Eddie size maybe in the 15' to 18' range here on Oahu. Jaws always seems to focus the swell much better and it should be plenty big if the forecast is right. I still don't like calling the contest "on" days in advance, just say maybe but don't call it on till you see the surf.

I think they have to greenlight it to get the surfers off their asses and start getting there already.

Billy Kemper will have to surf the Pipe Masters today before flying to Maui. I wonder what he would do if he had to choose between the 2.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Thanks for the invite but I have plans. Rain check? Is Jaws in theaters again?

I just got an invite to be on a boat in the channel, but I'm in NZ a couple more days. My girlfriend is taking my spot.

Waking up at 4am to fly over tomorrow. Bringing a 6'0, 6'1 and 6'6 but I have a feeling Honolua is going to be maxed out. Swell came in bigger and more North.

The Bay doesn't like it too north. If it's not working well Little Makaha is where I'd surf on the west side of Maui during a big northish swell.

Yeah this one is coming in hot, bigger and more North that forecasted.

Buoy 1 is 18.7 feet at 17 seconds, that is FAHKING HUGE. Eddie size. Jaws is gonna be gnarly.

I've got some pics somewhere from '93? of the harbor and a container ship with about 6 stacked high trying to bully its way through an xxl swell similar to this one. It was quite amazing to see actually. Harbor wave was totally washed out, a no go.

That was back when Laird and Kalama had just gotten the Tow in thing going and were hitting Jaws towing with an avon. Guys weren't even paddling it back then. It is truly a sight to see from the cliff when it is big though.
Don't forget your bino's!! o_O
There's a couple spots E of Jaws that could be fun....but still rather large.

Sweet! I hope they don't call the Big Wave contest off due to High Surf (again!)

The Maui buoy is 18' 18 seconds. I seen some IG videos showing Jaws breaking yesterday when the buoy was 10' 14 seconds, it's going to be big. The biggest the Waimea buoy was 14' 18s, not Eddie size. They wouldn't want to run it today anyways.
Dorian is out.
