Caldwell has 14ft 16sec on his forecast, my translation would be under Eddie size maybe in the 15' to 18' range here on Oahu. Jaws always seems to focus the swell much better and it should be plenty big if the forecast is right. I still don't like calling the contest "on" days in advance, just say maybe but don't call it on till you see the surf.14ft at 14sec isn't THAT big, is it?
I think they have to greenlight it to get the surfers off their asses and start getting there already.Caldwell has 14ft 16sec on his forecast, my translation would be under Eddie size maybe in the 15' to 18' range here on Oahu. Jaws, no brainer.I think they have to greenlight it to get the surfers off their asses and start getting there already.
Billy Kemper will have to surf the Pipe Masters today before flying to Maui. I wonder what he would do if he had to choose between the 2.
The Bay doesn't like it too north. If it's not working well Little Makaha is where I'd surf on the west side of Maui during a big northish swell.Waking up at 4am to fly over tomorrow. Bringing a 6'0, 6'1 and 6'6 but I have a feeling Honolua is going to be maxed out. Swell came in bigger and more North.
Sweet! I hope they don't call the Big Wave contest off due to High Surf (again!)Yeah this one is coming in hot, bigger and more North that forecasted.
Buoy 1 is 18.7 feet at 17 seconds, that is FAHKING HUGE. Eddie size. Jaws is gonna be gnarly.
