This morning it looks surprisingly small here given the location and size of the storm. Chest to shoulder high at best. Cams 5 miles north of me are showing a head highish wave. I left my work calendar open today so I can surf whenever. Now the question is when and where.
Took the day off...hoping it fills in on the incoming tide this afternoon...maybe chest high sets on western LI. This am was fabulously overcalled by all the forecasts lol

Even over here, I’ve seen some pretty sick LB pics hitting the feeds now.

we spent 7 hours hiking and biking from one end of Rohan to the other. I even rode into one of those charming yet painful stone walls. I have an entire trips worth of pics just from today

Wasn't happening at my home town breaks at all this morning. Drove a little north of ACNJ and surfed some very solid and very frustrating waves. The bigger outside sets were soft in relation to the howling offshore wind so that the wind would just blow you off the wave unless you were on a big heavy board which I was not. The inside waves were mostly closeouts. Only managed about four decent rides in four hours in the water. Best wave was my first one of the day......as luck would have it a perfect second peak formed out ahead of me as I bottom turned after dropping in........easy peasy thread the needle barrel section.

PS: The air felt like November even though the water was in the 70s. I'm still chilled.

Started howling at around 5am here. Still some bumps on offer, but this swell caught Duval with its pants down sandbar-wise. Lots of backwash on the pre/post work tides

Saw some pretty classic montauk pics, looks like they had a good proper window where it all came together

Inis Mor was firing. Screw it, a mod can hijack from time to time

this last one was actually on the road down to the Doolin ferry pier (damn was that only yesterday? Is it October yet? I feel like I’ve been here for weeks already)

those zones out there certainly looked like they would be fun with the right wind and swell

Turned on for one tide cycle at a novelty spot not far from home. Had a good time with a small crew. Hopefully more leftovers tomorrow.

That’s what she said
Thats EXACTLY what my wife said when we were up in the high pastures with our bikes, carrying them over stonewalls, while I was trying to convince her we could make it all the way to the Black Fort via the hilltop. “Look honey you can SEE the fort way over there!”

“This is NOT going to get us there we need to turn back!”

I eventually conceded that I was out of my mind, so we back tracked to an actual lane way and found the correct way to the Black Fort

Caught a crazy sandbar on the Outer Banks Thursday morning. This clip does not do it justice. Lots of waves closed out but if you got one of the good ones it was mental! I got too really fun ones that offered steep drop into a fast moving barrel that ended up closing out, never got one of the really good ones. The swell had too much south in it for the banks. After hitting this spot early we checked another spot just 5 miles away and it looked like a completely different ocean about chest high and soft. Yesterday (Friday) went back home which is a south facing beach and scored that really good with the north winds. As GromsDad said, no leftovers whatsoever today.
