Yes, it's waste.

I think a big part of the problem is the "general recycling" bins you see everywhere now.

Those things are full of stuff that can never be recycled.

They should stick to glass and aluminum.

Don't even get me started on Amazon Prime.

exactly, the move to "One" bind trend trying to make recycling more of a habit has created bad quality recyclables. primary reason why other countries are rejecting our waste. need to bring back separate bins for paper vs plastics

What you can do (if you want) is work to reduce your trash buy buying in bulk (unpackaged) and re-using stuff whenever possible.

Recycling is a complete scam. I only put sh!t in the blue bins because I run out of room in the brown one.

I separate all my La Croix cans and glass for a homeless lady that comes by on trash day.

We actually stopped recycling

Also put a lock on our dumpster.

The scavengers just made it too much of a disgusting hassle.

3 or 4 days a week they were making a complete environmental disaster outside.

They were also coming around at all hours of the night and waking people up with the clanging/banging of bottles, cans etc. digging through everything.

So a percentage of what you put I the recycling bin doesn't get recycled. So just throw it all in the landfill. That's really intelligent.
