Then silence and the sound of footsteps running up the street. Later that morning I walked out on the balcony to see this sad scene. It was a fun couple of days especially the bands on Frenchman street but I doubt if we stay in the French Quarter again. Too dangerous.

New Orleans is one of the few cities in the world where I actually felt unsafe just by being out and about.

The quarter has always been a bit dangerous if you were out late and alone or just a couple. Lots of robberies and beatings, a few rapes here and there. Problem today is too late is getting earlier and earlier.
