Yeah, that is a genius idea. It'd be fantastic if they could start mass producing these to bring the cost down to an acceptable level.
I surfed dolphin tanks last week off my friend's 33' center console with twin 350s. First thing I noticed when I went to his slip was the new Sharrow props. $5K each and they claim 20-30% reduction in fuel use. He had just installed them recently and was still dialing them in. They definitely were quieter. At 5 knots the engines were turning less rpms and burning less gallons per hour. Same at high trolling speed (think 12 knots when you're pulling madmacs all day). Unfortunately at 3500-4000 rpms (cruising speed) they were no more efficient than the normal props he replaced. Sharrow is working with him to try and remedy this.
Cool technology and I do think they will get this figured out at some point but they don't quite seem to be delivering as marketed yet.

In any case I was taught not insist on your right of way in cases of imminent disaster.
