How much more will your Big Mac cost if we raise the minimum wage?

Can’t wait for the usual suspects to tell us how they worked 60 hours a week, slept 2 hours a night and saved every penny during high school and college.

No you didn’t. You were rich and white. STFU.

Why do you care what they spend it on? None of your business.

Cell phones and cars are as necessary in the US as food and rent.

You constantly use dumb excuses not to pay people a living wage.
My employees make $35-$40 and hour, health insurance and retirement plans. Wellness programs and profit sharing bonuses as well.

And no, cell phones and cars are not as necessary as food and shelter.

And when government is forcing me to to pay entry level workers more than they are worth it is my business what they spend it on.

If you have a nice car, cell phone, weed habit, cable tv but ‘can’t afford’ rent then your priorities are mixed up.

Went to College with a Football Scholarship. Worked nights and weekends at a Spur Station pumping gas and fixing flats. Summertime I worked in the woods as a logger with a chain saw.

The question is not what is the profit on a Big Mac. The question is: what percentage of the price of a Big Mac goes to labor, materials, fixed costs, and so on. For example, if a BM costs 2 bucks and 25% of the price goes towards burdened labor costs (50 cents), and those labor costs go up 20% due to a minimum wage, then the labor cost of a Big Mac is now 60 cents, i.e. the purchase price went up a dime.

"People on minimum wage spend money on iPhones so they don't deserve to get paid a living wage."
This "but they can afford to spend money on that so they don't deserve this" is fucking stupid. People need phones, and most people don't have land lines anymore. And if you don't have a computer of some kind, ie, a smart phone, you can't possibly get a job. More poor folks have a smart phone before they have a computer.

"Poor people also shouldn't be allowed to relax with a beer after work." That's great thinking. Talk about elitist bullshit.

Higher minimum wage means MANY workers have more money to spend, which they WILL spend and stimulate the economy, more than helping the rich business owners. Rich people don't spend that much more than middle class, because there are few of them compared to low-wage or medium-wave workers. Rich will buy a few expensive cars and houses and some other luxuries, but after that they just invest and save, save, save, and pass it on to their kids. And that does little for the economy.

I don’t disagree but there are ways to have a smart phone without dropping $100+/month. Just sayin.

And you don't know what everyone is spending per month. Everybody who partakes in society needs a computer, and smart phones are that. For many people, especially poor people, their smartphone is their only computer.

Also, as stated earlier, it's none of our business what people spend their money on. Freedom, blah blah blah.

Unless you're on welfare, then the state has every right to know what you buy, apparently.

if they aren’t spending that kind of money, then good for them. I’m not arguing against the need for a smart phone, I do agree that it’s basically an essential communication device.

Like I said, glass houses. It becomes my business when you give me a sob story about it and how you can’t afford to support your kids or contribute to retirement. Keep it to yourself if you don’t want me to comment on it, as I’m not one to give unsolicited advice.

Pretty much every person I’ve loaned money to played that card, and I watched them spend money on all kinds of nonessentials before they got around to paying me back. At that point yes, it is especially my business.

Welfare isn't a loan, and it's never your business.
