whatever board i actually have on hand when the magic atually occurs and id doable
This mostly. At head high plus it’s whatever board I have on hand. If I have a bunch with me I’d choose the 5’8 assuming a small crowd.

A medium crowd it’s a 6’8

A big crowd I go somewhere else or pull out the 8’6 Padillac.

I realize a lot of guys dont have or need a barrel board and just get shacked off their ass on their ordinary shortboard, thats not me tho.

Well I can definitely get barreled on my every day shortboard. But if its firing and all about the barrel I go to something else.

6-9 foot faces (which most would call 3-5 feet) and barrels is the perfect size wave for your regular high performance shortboard. Do people really use their step ups in this kind of surf?

^lots of variables
stand by mine, when the place I usually surf is solid 6-9' of face
I like some more paddle power,if for nothing else than moving around the line up /positioning

The OC
Stamps made me a 6’10 round pin, and when the waves start cracking I tend to grab that board. It’s fun. I could get away with riding a 6’0 but often don’t see much point.
