Personally, I like how the internet has contributed to a little more parity between the people vs the politicians and their backers. It means the politicians are compelled to be more responsive to the themes coming from the folk, as opposed to dictating terms to the people on the take-it-or-leave-it basis.

I think we deserve the govt we vote for, and that America is all about we-the-people exercising our own self-determination. IDGAF what the elites might think is best for us because I assume they're acting in their own self-interests just the same as everyone else.
So yeah, if America votes for the God Emperor Troll again then that's the right way to go. If America votes for the "Democratic" Socialist then that's the right way to go. Regardless what I think, the electorate will not allow either party to run the table for long, so I fully expect Trump's successor to be a backlash to Trump. Same as always.
