I own a significant position of TSLA. Significant for me anyway. Have a big gain and I don't want to pay the taxes, but I'm getting pretty sick of EM's sh!t. It's like he has so much money he has lost touch.
If you're doing a "Castles in the Sky" valuation, get out now.

Twitter has never been profitable, never will be, and you guys seem deliberately blind to how it was used in the pre-Musk era. Ok.

Free/affordable education is the best investment a country can make. Not only does it generate knowledge and job opportunities, but it affects other areas such as health, political choices and overall human behavior to the better. Some sort of loan/stipend deal should be available for all people who wants to go to school.

Deleting student loans is giving money to people who already should have the tools to make it in life. The loans should be repaid with interest to fund the next generation. Obviously, getting a Master's degree in autoethnograpic gender studies won't pay the bills, but just everything else does.

Solid post. I would argue that while across the board loan forgiveness is stupid, the entire student loan system is really shitty and needs to be overhauled. It is way, way too complex with too many fingers in the money pie, and the interest rates are not low, even though the overwhelming majority of student loans are government backed and the actual lender is incurring no risk.

IMO making them zero interest with the government paying the lenders' costs is a low dollar option that would really help a lot of folks. And no student should incur debt without being forced to attend a debtor seminar on how the system works and how not to incur dumb financial risks by borrowing $150K to get a BA in Oppression Group Studies or Art History, while borrowing the same amount for a CompSci or EE degree is not so dumb..

The government IS the lender on the loans being forgiven. There is no mechanism allowing Soft Top to forgive private loans.

I agree with the rest of your post. I’m a big proponent of kids going the JC route to save money. At the very least, no kid should bebb can paying private school tuition anymore.

Twitter was profitable in 2018 and 2019, and almost again in 2021. Elon’s destruction of the company is unprecedented.

Yah but look at what they were before. Sensoring sh!t and pushing their own agenda with algo trickery. It was egregious. I don't know if it's any better now but I know it was a truly dogshit company before, and ran by dogshit people.

Tweeter was so popular it actually became a verb... you "tweet" stuff. And this idiot changed it to X, which is an over the top pathetic move. It is so hard to create a powerful brand such as Twitter and this idiot replaces it out of spite.

Oh, not to mention when I see current twitter URLs, my first impression is ALWAYS that it's a porn site.

www.x.com. That's porn, period. So genius Elon replaced one of the most recognized brands in the world for something that resembles a generic porn website. That's just dumb.

I have no dog in this fight. I don’t have a twitter account and don’t care if it lives or dies. I will say that I don’t find it any better or worse than other social media platforms. How anyone is still in Facebook for example is beyond me.

i also don’t think Twitter’s content policy, now or before, is a big deal. As a private entity they can do whatever they want With the site they created. The market will ultimately decide if they made/are making the right decisions.

They were a public company pre-Elon. Agree, private company should be able to do what they want. But the whole social media thing is whack. I used twitter for stock/crypto news, and it's good for that. But I usually have to scroll through tons of bs posts.

Publicly traded doesn’t mean they don’t have rights granted to all private enterprise. They’re not the government - who owns their shares is irrelevant when determining what they can and can’t do w their site.

The government was making them do this. It's in the Twitter Files. Mike Benz talks about this a lot too. It's the perfect propaganda channel for the managerial class.

X is just a placeholder for whatever he's going to call it when he's finished. Think of his history with banking and payments at PayPal.

He should have kept the original name, makes no sense from a business point of view. It's something he did out of spite. Well, I know a lot of people here who think acting out of spite is pretty commendable so there's that.

X does sound like a really dumb name for a social platform. But when you're the wealthiest guy in the world, you do whatever the fuck you want.

Exactly. When I make billions of dollars, I can throw it into a money furnace and name stuff whatever I want. Until then, I can't.

COIN up another 6% today. boy, i'll bet those people who bought this dog anywhere near the IPO price a couple years ago are just starting to get their hopes up. i'm sure there's a bunch of them out there - chumps who bought COIN in the go-go '21's and then spent the no-no '22's down by about 90%.

:trout:

that's what i've heard, anyway. not that i actually know anybody like that.

So who had Israel short on October 7th? It's as if somebody knew something.

One single trader accounted for 10 times the normal short volume against the Israeli economy for the first week of October. And presumably made some good coin on October 7th and forward.
