I left California in the 90's.

Twasnt cause of price. Surely wasn't due to Socialism, I moved to Spain... a tad more Socialist than SF, where I came from.

It was for one reason only. As a banker I had state and federal expenditure reports produced annually, by an independent firm, in order to find possible investment opportunities for our wealthier clientele.

The last 5 years straight before I left, expenditure on correctional facilities was greater than that of education and health care combined.

Anyone with half an analytical cell in their brain can extrapolate and see where that leads.

Low and behold, I was right to GTFO.

Max Max within a few decades if they keep up similar trends.

Where would you prefer people get their education? Schools, or prisons?

Don't even get me started on mental health... hello? Homeless problem, anyone, anyone? Beuller? Claaaass?

What are the correct policies for dealing with the homeless situation?
who knows. million dollar question.

But when you have open air drug markets and literal human feces everywhere. People tend to get pretty disgusted at current policies.

Capital punishment for the supply side early and often. Rehab/detox for the demand side.

Haha I'd leave CA for Hawaii, except for all the people I love are here.

I agree. It's been a struggle for me because basically I have worked in California since 2015 and commuted from Hawaii because my kids begged me not to make them move. Also, my job is in LA and I don't want to raise kids anywhere within commuting distance of there. My wife and I talked about moving to the central coast - after all, it's a closer commute than the one I'm doing now - but if I'm going to be gone for two weeks at a time anyway, we figured it's better to just stay. And now that my last kid is a freshman and a full on surf addict he'd hate me if we moved.

Ya the greater LA area would be a no go for me too. And ya you make good points. Although I guess in Ventura you could go home for weekends.

I really like Ventura area. SB is cool too but I like Ventura better.

once had to drive with my 4 year old from pt hueneme to LaX on a Sunday. Was so miserable. I can’t understand the Appeal to living in La

Mostly it's limited to the nice places. Not too many people getting priced out of Visalia.
You’d be surprised. Visalia is one of the more liveable Central Valley cities and homes are well over $500k there now. I know a guy who bought a home in Lemoore for $400k because Hanford and Visalia were too pricey :toilet:

People love to look out the window and see miles of farms in every direction but the smell and the help usually get to 'em. They find a new river or maybe a nice horse farmy area and build a neighborhood there, which allows them access to infiltrate councils, change zoning, sell land, put their name on everything and provide the offspring with a place to do their business so on and so forth.
When the land is gone, or undesirable they come here to commiserate. Rinse - Repeat.

DM me if you’d like to borrow a 5’7 x 35 liter Stretch Super Buzz or a 5’9 x 33 liter Lost RNF while you’re on Oahu.
