Journos now sit at their desks and copy and paste tweets and call it "reporting". Or they do podcasts and spout their opinions and call it "analysis". Or they do TV and just spew total horseshit and call it "opinion." As long as readers/viewers get pissed off and keep coming back, it's all good.

IMO there are way too many outlets and people with bylines, the talent pool is incredibly diluted. This includes editors and producers who should be holding their journalists' feet to the fire. Plus there's no money in it, so they crank up the outrage machine to generate clicks and dollars.

It's what happens when journalism is a business model.

The real news outlets are forced to compete with the likes of Bongonino for clicks.

Which is a loosing (sic) battle because bias confirmation is an amazingly effective click-bait while the facts are boring.

Let teh free markut decide. :poop:

Good journalism still exists but nobody's interested in reading it, in the world where this guy would prove that all you beliefs are valid, you don't even have to know how to read.

Nobody is forced to read/watch/listen to it. That says as much about the consumer as the provider.
Well, that's a cop out.

Sure, nobody is "forced" to listen to it but that easy confirmation bias option exists and those who put that sh!t out there know that GrossDads and Schexxx's of this world will gobble it up. Internet monetization ruined journalism.

If that’s a cop out you need to define which internet content is unacceptable and how to get rid of it. It’s not, you won’t, and even if you could you wouldn’t.

I get my news from the BBC (left leaning, english language) and Proceso (left leaning, spanish language). I don’t care where others get their news. Don’t like it, don’t read/watch/listen to it.

Journalism is dead. As noted above, current "journalism" is focused on clicks and and an audience that has ADD. In depth research based reporting no longer resonates with the customer base. People only watch or read to affirm their bias not to learn and be exposed to a dissenting point of view. The purpose of journalism is to expose the truth, good and bad. For what ever reason, the truth is no longer tolerated unless it aligns with your bias.

there's no getting rid of the internet, unless some kind of miracle happens and makes people like Bongo, Shapiro and others gain actual conscience and stop spreading bullshit.

Any attempt at regulating misinformation is met with TYRANNY.and SENSORSHIP claims.
