I bought a cheapie one and having blast with it. What are some of your favorites around here? Any benefit in buying one of those expensive ones?

I got one from a forum member here, Brownfish, several years ago and I love it. Don't think he's doing them anymore but they are made of light Pulwania wood and have a great handle system.

Is it worth it? I don't know, it's beautiful and gives me joy anytime I use it. Not sure you can want more than that out of something.

I have a brownfish plane and it's great for all the reasons listed above. My son and I made this one and it works great as well.

I would think making your own is the way to go.
Just need something to push on with a good strap

I'm thinking of making one with some 5/8" plywood. Can anyone give me a quick tutorial on dims and how to carve out an even and symmetrical concave? I can handle the glassing.

Also, Sole handplanes are very good.

The miniboogies are super fun. I use the 662 one.
