Hand Plane Straps

Another winter project involves building some Sitka Spruce hand planes. I need ideas for hand straps or where I can purchase some quality straps.

Our own Brownfish's handplanes are the best I've tried and have the best strap system. I'd take a look at those for ideas. Not sure what his secret sauce is but it works.

simply get some tie down straps at a hardware store and couple screws. it works. two handplanes i made this summer with using that as straps

40mm webbing looped under with a pull buckle. fixed to the plane with stainless screws, with tail pad offcuts (or similar foam over the top to hide the screws.

If you've got a boat parts store near by get some finish washer to hide the sharp edge of the screw head and distribute the load over a wider area of the webbing.
