Hi dudes -- going to be in Guam in December and hoping to do a lil warm water surfing. Online info is inconclusive -- should I expect to surf (I have pretty low expectations for quality anymore) or just be happy about some snorkeling and palm trees?

Thanks!

iirc surf shops in Tumon Bay are more like pac sun - never saw a board while there. Reef runs out flat and then a dropoff so pretty mucb a giant closeout in 2ft of water if there is a typhoon fetch.

IME as a non-Chamorro, of course. Plenty of hiking, cliff jumping, scuba and snorkeling to keep you busy, however.

may be different if you know someone at the bases and their beaches, or with a proper NW funneling through

very localized place cause not many breaks
never surfed there bur only seen two decent breaks
one off the harbor breakwater in Agana
and another off the old Sheraton between Tumon Bay and Agana
lots of surf shops in Tumon Bay because of all the japanese/chinese/korean tourists

Some of the better spots are typhoon dependent but you might catch a few at Magundas (Apra breakwater) or
Agana boat basin. Boat Basin has a pretty tight take off zone so you might want to dawn patrol. If you surf Magundas
make sure you've got your spot figured out for getting up the jetty when you're done as the boulders are f'n sharp.
