I think I started when my kid was 8 or so. I put in 200.00 a month but also had a fidelity credit card that paid 2% back right into the 529. It covered almost the whole expense.

If you start at $100 per month in a 529 when the kids are born, nearly all of their college and living expenses should be paid for when they're 18, with the exception for really expensive private colleges.

Pretty impressive that he can do a one handed dunk.

Has some Youtoob vids that are pretty entertaining.
Couple of points...

1. There are no lefts here.

2. There are no waves here.

3. SBCC isn’t even having in person classes so he should move back to Maui and do it from there.
I like this grooms surfing.

Looks to be pretty big. 6 ft and prob close to 200 lbs.

Being a pro surfer is a rough endeavor too. You don’t wanna be 30 and left with no education or life skills once the the companies find no use for you anymore.
Great just what we need more wanna be pro transplants at rincon And sandspit taking ig pics. And going to school at cc :LOL:really means partying on the mesa
Noah was pretty gnarly at a really young age. Like under 12.

I remember his big rotation at US Champs one year. Good to see that he is checking other things out. Maui seems like a great place to potentially burn out and get bitter if you don't leave for a while.

Kid rips, I had seen him in person on the North Shore and thought he looked built for the CT.
I didn't say SB was a good choice! Just that he's bailing on a surf career to go to college when he previously had the backing by Oneill to pursue the tour.

Had a good friend in middle and high school who was groomed to be a golfer, like tiger. He has a picture of the 2 of them when they were 12, my buddy holding the 1st place trophy, tiger holding 2nd. He won cif in 11th grade, then burnt out. Stopped practicing. Should've repeated in 12th, but finished 2nd. Got scouted by the UCLA coach, which got him into ucla, priority registration w all the athletes. Decided not to try out for the team as a walk on, and got to stay in school there. Wouldn't have gotten in otherwise. Lucky burn out.

22 years of $100/month compounded at 7% will yield $59k. Which won’t cover sleep away camp college but it will at least cover Cal State tuition or the last 2 years as a JC/UC transfer.

Just hope the crash doesn’t hit when you need to start cashing it out :drowning:

Not saving for your kids' college education if you can is a major parent fail.
Not sure about that....higher education is a business model (and as enabled by the student loan industry, practically a scam) and certainly not necessary to enable your kids to become successful adults.

As a father of two kids in college, I can tell you that $100/mo. for 18 years in a 529 will NOT cover more than 2 years of college(unless you're talking about a JC)

jc is a great cost saving route and easier access into the UC system

used to take my hard math and spanish classes at OCC in the summer and barely attend and pass but got those requirments for UC degree checked off

Certainly not all in. Although Cal State tuition is still under $10k (barely under for some lol). It’s doable if they live at home.

If you're only paying $100/mo for kid's sports, you're killing it... Or only having them play AYSO soccer once/week.

Sign your life away to Uncle Sam and make it a career. You can give your GI bill to your children. It's like a different form of prostitution.
I'm way past that point of my life, lol. But do have a few cousins in that boat!
