My kid wants to start surfing and the wife has been hinting at wanting to paddle out. So i thought this board would work well for them as a beginner board and also something i could take out when the waves are super small. I always remember thinking how this outline looked fun. Short, wide with a pulled-in tail. Chuey looks like he's having fun on it?

But based on @waxurDyl and @nrthcty it sounds like its not very good. Now i have to decide if i want to spend the money to find out for myself or trust the erBB?
Since you're used to Tomos you will find its lack of speed underfoot frustrating. You're wife won't mind it. When its small the pulled in tail isn't a plus for keeping speed through turns but the wide nose is good for standing forward and trimming.
The bamboo decked lft ones are more lively than the TT ones.

Save yourself some time and money. Don't teach her to surf, she's going to lose interest anyway.

Teach her how to wax a board, comb wax, and fix dings.

Mine knows I usually like to leave around 8 AM for a surf check.

The expectation is that my boards are waxed and loaded in the car.

when I get home she puts my boards away. If my front foot has worn a pretty decent patch through the wax she combs the wax and then removes the remainder with mineral spirits. Then she applies a basecoat.

She also does a once over to look for any dings that may need to be repaired (rare).

If there are any, I give her a week to fix them. If there's swell on the way, however, she knows they must be fixed before it arrives.

That could be anywhere from a few hours to a week later. There are times when I come home from a surf at 6 PM and will be leaving to chase swell at 4:30 AM the next day. Regardless, the expectation is the board is fixed.

Also I don't tell her if any swell is coming; that's her job to keep on top of.

Yep - very similar outline. That DT looks fun. It would be cool to set that up as a bonzer fin configuration with a large single fin. The fin configuration on the Scorpion looks better than the Greedy Beaver.:unsure: Still haven't ruled it out yet.

I actually reckon Firewire skimmed the design from closer to home.
Insert a bit of GG style intrigue here:
Exibhit A is the long running Sunova dynamo model which Burt Burger made years ago for Vance Burrows (Taj's father) long before Firewire ever made an Addvance model from a board that Vance was riding.
The bottom is flat (noted for GG) rather than concaves like the Greedy beaver.
The dynamo is balsa over eps with the parabolic rail that Burt created and Firewire used in their builds.
The dynamo is thinner, wider and with a lot less foam in comparable lengths compared to the greedy beaver. It also has a more "performance" rocker.
Pic is of a 6'10" demo which I should receive tomorrow to haul my old bones around on.

I had more than a few (five) Greedy Beavers in different sizes, from 5'6 to 6'8. My advise would be, if you get one, would be to go bigger..6'4, 6'6, 6'8. The smaller ones did not grovel well, and the nose would catch turning. I have a 6'4 in LFT that I like. There is quite a bit of concave in the tail area. Speed and wave catching is not an issue, but turning may be a bit cumbersome, unless your used to riding boards like that. It grovels and paddles good, and is easy to ride. Fun in lined up mush burgers. Would I buy another? Probably not, just because I really don't like pop outs anymore, but if I found a cheap one in the bigger sizes I might consider it. They are easy to sell on CL by the way.

Is there a soft top version?
The Softech Bomber looks similar

Great advice @Jamby - thanks. :)

@Retropete That Dynamo looks really good. I like how the nose area is more pulled in and a blunt nose. The outline looks a little more parallel too - probably better for turning.

Still on the fence about getting one. Its really more for the kids and wife, but I'd be keen on giving it a go.

This was over 20 years ago. I remember her name but not her porno name. It was in south florida so probably one of those bang bus sites or something like that. She had two of those generic stars tattooed on both sides of her puss/pelvis area. Happy spanking to you.
