If you watch the video the woman that was victim of the attack was at the end of the aisle crawling towards the pigs and the perp was moving in the opposite direction at the far end of the aisle. All the damage he did to her was already done and he no longer posed a threat to her in that moment. The police didn’t even identify themselves or give any orders, they simply opened fire with no attempt at deescalation. He didn’t even get a chance to comply. And a 14yr old girl is dead because of it. Only a steaming pile of sh!t like you would defend this.

Jesus Christ if a police force can't stop a bike lock attack without killing a 14 year old because cops can't shoot for sh!t then Defund is the solution, not the problem. Two officers with batons who can't stop a bike lock attack dying in the line of duty is a win for the gene pool and the taxpayer.

Besides like afoaf said, she wouldn't have died from blunt bike lock trauma, she would have died with blunt bike lock trauma.
The solution is more and better training, better recruiting for higher caliber officers and clear rules of engagement.

This requires MORE funding.

Cheap, low paid and poorly trained cops would make things worse.

It would make it more like Mexico.

Funding would be the solution, not defunding

That sounds like they need a lot more training and marksmanship practice. All of which costs money
Uhh, it sounds like they need swinging a stick practice?

I'm with skully on this one. Reminds me of the Last of the Mohicans when Nathaniel lifts Major Asshole's gun in case his aim isn't any better than his judgement.

Nah I've heard this record before. Giving the government more money to do something just means they'll suck at it more. At least the cops are fighting the crooks to a stalemate with not that many casualties.

You up the training and budget and it'll be like Afghanistan. Way more civilian deaths, and the crooks will win for sure.

Edit: Also, Mexico rules. I've never been the victim of a crime and I don't really see all that many cops.

Maybe Security by Sinaloa is the way?

What in the name high school football is this when libertarians are promoting throwing more money at the government to make it better?!

Two solutions:

1) Take guns away from the cops since they will never be capable of using them properly. Less money, both on weapons and pensions.
2) Privatize it. Most the street gangs already seem self-funded so...

And when the inevitable settlement gets dished out to the 14yr old victims family it should come from police pension funds not the taxpayers wallets. Or at least deduct police misconduct settlements from the annual budgets of police departments which is an unofficial defunding of their own doing.

Why use Neolithic tech when you can use modern technology?

Also, the whole beating with stick thing carries a stigma that will never go away due to Rodney King

And Skully is scared of guns, while this is a comical overreaction and overreach with cops using whole magazines instead of one well-placed shot I refuse to give an inch to those who prove time and time again that slippery slopes are real

I’m not scared of guns. I’m scared of people who don’t know how to use guns or show proper restraint with them. Guns are moron magnets.

I’ve done tactical training alongside cops and most of them weren’t much more proficient with their firearms than I am. And I’m not claiming to be good.

Private police forces? No red flags there...
Absolutely no way anything goes wrong.

Maybe if they were only armed with a sack of doorknobs. That's about as much modern technology as I would trust ifallalot and ilk with. As a compromise, I would allow the modern electronic doorknobs to be in said sack.

My point is that the news is delivering cherrypicked narratives to tap incite fear in you all in pursuit of clicks, and it's working quite well.

That you used an example way out in bumble in a post about a LAPD detective saying dumb, politically motivated sh!t about visiting the city of Los Angeles is a great illustration of how that works.

Again, not saying there are not shoplifting incidents here.
False narrative.

About time. We're a step away from making Romany the national language.

And swing the pendulum back in the other direction for both white and blue collar crimes. 3 counts = 3 strikes = life. 3 stolen catalytic converters in your possession, 3 counts, life. 3 counts of wire fraud? Life. Or exile to a location not of your choosing. SF has Alcatraz right there.

It's a long time coming for a sweep and clear of the riff-raff.

Are you really so dumb as to not see how this all works?
I know exactly how it works. Dem/socialist DA gets elected and announces he's never going to pursue charges aghast a whole variety of crimes. At the same time the Liberal governor signs a law decriminalizing most crime in the state. Cops look at this and say......if they aren't going to prosecute, we aren't going to arrest......crime climbs to astonishing levels and while the numbers are higher they aren't a true reflection of how bad things really are.

Crime statistics can't be trusted. The most reliable are murders because there is a dead body and a chain of custody.
Personally, I don't care what happens to these cities. The new NYC DA is just like Chesa Boudin and George Gascon. I used to roll with a guy who's deputy DA in Los Angeles so I pity guys like him who are trying to do the right thing, but the people deserve who they elect.
