Ya'll stay safe out there. Turn around, don't drown.

Gold raincoat in heavy showers? Is that some sort of Trump joke?

Highway 1 is closed right now north of ragged point to big sur due to a mudslide and downed power lines. Apparently due to a burn scar from the recent fires. Double suck.

I was waiting to hear about the CenCal Hwy 1 closures and landslides any day now. These rain onslaughts bring back memories of the REAL winters we used to have in the 70's, 80's and early 90's. Too bad they're more of a cut-off low variety, instead of the true Pineapple Express fronts with strong SW-WSW winds and epic swell directions with them.

These are more like loaded Pineapple trolleys. All rain/snow (at high elevations) and not much core strength. Great for our drought. Hopefully winters like these will continue and ALL reservoirs will top off. Cal guv and water officials won't know what to do with themselves if this keeps up.

It was only a matter of time for them to come around again.

13" since Friday here...thought it was a big deal when the S. Fork of the Eel at Miranda hit 36,000cfs...it's at 78,600 now...there were...were...some 'green' houses along the Eel in Phillipsville, they're long gone.

I was in my home town of Sacto today.
American and Sacramento rivers looked like how they normally looked
during "regular" winters.
Yolo Causeway is looking like a shallow inland sea.
People drive like idiots.

my windshield wipers stopped working on the 101 today, at 4:00pm. stopped dead, with the rain blasting away and everything the same shade of grey. nowhere to safely pull off, traffic rolling along like any other afternoon. quite happy to be alive and safe tonight.

Sure they do. They will declare the drought "over" and shelve all plans and ideas for additional water infrastructure such as storage and desalinization, then spend on the money on bullet trains instead :toilet:

Highway 41 closed, Old Creek Road closed, and Highway 1 closed from Ragged Point to Big Sur.

This rain is limiting my bike commutes. :cussing: Finally rode today and had to get a ride after double flatting.

so true. There's never been a shortage of water in CA, just an inability to properly capture and retain what we have.
