It's the energy source used (for EV's) that needs to be settled on. Lithium batteries are NOT the long term answer, IMO.
And with China taking control of it's mining, production and long term strategy, we'll be suckling their teat like we did with the Middle East for oil in the 70's and 80's in no time.

According to the 2021 BP Statistical Review, China has 7.9% of the world's lithium reserves. The U.S. has 4.0%. (The majority of global lithium reserves are in South America and Australia).
