Picked up this fresh sled from Doug Moreaux (Talon Surfboards)
today. Basically a wider big guy shortboard with a rounded nose
and generous foam, but beautifully foiled nose, rails, and tail.
Glassed by DK’s shop and turned out great. PU/PE 4/4/4 with a
layer of S on the deck and the weight is great.
Doug was very easy to work with and I’m excited to get this thing
in the water! 6’1” x 21 1/4 x 2 3/4.

That does look fun.

Why poly?
Few reasons.
Mainly, there are times when the wind is too hard offshore (ie: Nica trip and occasional days around here) for my
super light eps boards and I thought this might be a good traveler and for those days.
Also wanted to try one of Doug's shapes first before throwing down extra dough for epoxy glassing.
Also wanted to try DK's shop glassing in PU/PE since I've heard good things (looks great).
I picked up a couple poly boards used recently that I've enjoyed, so thought, why not?
Just need the weather to cooperate so I can actually try it out!

Finally got this thing out in clean, fun waves this morning. Didn’t want to surf it for
the first time in mediocre or junk surf. In short, had a blast. Got a handful of good
waves, both directions, and it went fast, was solid on the drop, and did a few
pretty solid turns, with the best being a frontside snap in a section that went vertical
quickly and I didn’t pearl like I would’ve on that section on a lower rockered board.
Good first go!!
