Fun story.
A couple of weeks ago when I was up in Alaska we were in the fish cleaning area and a group came in behind us, while they were waiting we asked where they were from. A couple were from the bay area, one from San Diego and the last guy says he's from Santa Barbara, Carpinteria to be exact.
Turns out he's the owner of Pro-Lite and lives down at Rincon. This place we're at is about as remote as it gets in AK, small world.
After talking a bit, he pulls out his iPhone and says check this out.
A couple of weeks prior, he and 11 other guys booked the pool for a day at a cost of $11,000 a pop!
He said it was fun as hell, but also said he wasn't in any hurry to do it again.

It says something when Toledo looks superhuman in the pool, but in the prior event literally pussed out on perfect Teahupoo set waves that Seth Moniz was all too happy to flip on.
I think the tour should only be six events at world class spots and two of those spots should be a legit big wave, maybe Lobos as it seems it's the most likely to get consistent 4x overhead + surf, and Teahupoo with a waiting period that guarantees they get it for real. Let's see who the truly COMPLETE surfers are. My guess is that you whittle it down to 15 guys really, really quick.

The contest got better as the surfers were pressured for higher scores and were forced to stop being such safe surfing pussies. Thank Mandona for pushing the bar.
