A mechanic once told me the Toyota 22RE engine was a "million mile engine, if you maintain it".

I met a guy who had a 7.3L Powerstroke engine (bulletproof engine) that had 2 switchable tanks and would put diesel in one tank and fryer grease (clarified and filtered) in the other. He'd get going on the diesel then when the engine was warm he'd switch over to the fryer grease. Drove down Baja with a coupla drums of the fryer grease and just counting the diesel averaged 100mpg on the diesel. Just had to make sure to switch over to the diesel before shutting down. Those old 7.3 Fords are still at a premium.

My brother-in-law has an early-2000s Ford F350 Diesel with over 400k miles, and it runs great. He has customized it a great deal, and could take that thing anywhere and live in it if needed.

The problem with the Ford diesels like the 7.3L isn't the engine. The rest of the truck is what sucks. Everything just starts to fall apart around the engine.

I dunno, I ain't a truck guy. My brother in law can do a lot of things himself, and his best friend is a great mechanic. All I know is that his 400k+ miles F-350 Diesel is still fresh. Saw it this Thanksgiving at my house. It is always a conversation piece amongst the neighbors when he rolls up.

Unbelievable with leaf springs.
"It took him ten years, but Justin Reece won the Spidertrax Off-Road 4600 Stock Class in a four cylinder, leaf sprung pickup in this year’s 4 Wheel Parts Every Man Challenge. Stoked to see vehicles like this take on the Hammers!"

I love my F-150 just as much as I love the USA if not more and wrestled with how best to show the world that fact. Until one day at the Auto parts store it appeared to me like a brilliant ray of light shining down from the otherwise cloudy heavens.

Too many doors, too short a bed. I'll be keeping my '99 Ranger until I electrify a '08-'11 Ranger.
Agree for personal use, but for our small company where we drive all over town, and occasionally need a small bed outside the cab, it's perfect...we are looking at the very base model hybrid...better than a Prius!

Is that a butterfly?

This is kind of what I'm looking at- I like the supercab with 6.5 foot bed.

Shite pic of an American Flag in the shape of an eagle sticker. I wanted to rep the USA hard in the most semi-ironic way possible now that I live in “Rock, Flag, and Eagle“ country.

They’re badass trucks (F150s) as long as you don’t give a sh!t about the Earth. And if you don’t have a lead foot like me you can coax some decent mileage out of an Ecoboost. Wicked engine.

It looks like a great vehicle and excellent value, if you have more than one friend and your whole quiver is under 4'6". I don't qualify. According to Jalopnik the entire first year is already sold out on pre-orders.
