Foiling needs to get the equivalent 12 foot, 24 inch wide tanker that the tourists at Waikiki use (so that they can get up and "rip" on their first try and send photos to everyone how well they surf).

I got up on the foil behind a boat yesterday.

I can't imagine not learning behind a boat before going in the surf.

It can be done. It's not ideal though

I have a friend who did it but he is a really good surfer and he made a concerted effort.

I just went around the lake twice on friday and my legs are so sore. I never use them that way.
