Very carefully- how does one set a perimeter on armed, fleeing suspects that are jockying for position in a traffic jam AND guarantee that the suspects don't fire on anything and everyone?

They get sued. What happens to the cops when their under reaction leads to death of civilians?
That is the rub.
Over reaction and under reaction are both threats.

I thought the 30-50 cruisers chasing them was just a bit much.I feel like i would just follow them in the helicopter and keep the cruisers back
see where this thing takes us
no one gets away from the chopper
I once saw a car thief get away from a partial perimeter - with dogs - and the helicopter. Two agencies involved plus the OC Sheriff Dept helicopter. At one point they were hovering in front of him trying to get him to give up and he just kept running until they ran out of open space and had to increase altitude. We never did catch that guy.I thought the 30-50 cruisers chasing them was just a bit much.
So you moved on from using hyperbole to justify cops killing citizens, to using anecdotal evidence to justify cops killing citizens.I once saw a car thief get away

That event never made it into the news, as is the case with most pursuits, fights and even some of the shootings. Real life isn't like what people see on TV.
let's consider cost/benefit...My comment was in response to the uninformed comment that you can rely on the helo every time. It's just like the stupidity we had going here about thinking tasers or pepper spray are almost always effective which is anything but true.
That's probably what this case will come down to.let's consider cost/benefit...
