Ocean finally came down enough yesterday to try my new foil setup.

Unfortunately on the way to the beach water started dripping out of the box end closest to the nose.

The board has been sitting dry for over a month and I never saw any water come out of it until today. On closer inspection I can see the previous owner put what looks like a smudge of sun cure there and of course it obviously failed.

What’s the solution here? Would patching with epoxy and cf or fiberglass cloth work?

Here's a photo, it's pretty impossible to see without playing with the lighting a bit, so I didn't pick up on it when I bought the board.

If the box seems solid otherwise you could do what I had done to one of my boards. Huge glass piece over the entire track box section. Ride it til it fails completely.

It might be a good idea to weigh the board and see if it's heavier after your next session.

You took the glass all the way to the edge of the slot of the box?

Try the Ding King. If not, MEAT ME TO MY FACE in Oceanside and I'll do it for you.

I've got no place to do this work properly. Anyone doing box repairs in the SD area?
Is your board from a builder in SD?

If not, the only ding place I know of is the place on the hill in Encinitas, which is probably the same that pcrd refered you to.

Try King's paddlesports or look up Steve Ford, both in Carlsbad. Both do a lot of foil boards and know how to fix/replace your problem box.

Unfortunately I think you should get the whole setup replaced (both boxes and the HD foam insert), any other repair is probably going to crack again. It'll be pricey but that board is going to last a long time and is as good as any of the new boards for sale.

The manufacturers now glass over the box flanges to prevent this kind of cracking.
