They're visually appealing, but as sharky stated adding an unnecessary bobble
Notice how his edge boards have evolved into utilising a tri plane bottom for more performance.
If you check out the whole podcast episode Gunter Rohn's guns get a mention from Ellis near the end. Mentioning as been a bit of love for them in other posts.

Rode my edge board today (6'2 ) for the first time.
Power Glide fin
There were few waves that came through that I thought were decent enough to give the board a real chance.
The ones that were enough, after getting the hang of the bottom turn...fuckin wow.
So much speed, the way the board feels on rail is completely different, and there is this element of controlled looseness.
It is a totally different surfing experience. A "how have I been missing this all my life, consider the possibilities" moment.
Lots of dopamine flowing and the waves were utter dogshit.
Only problem now is I'm dying to see what a thruster or single setup is like at around 5'8.

Controlled looseness is right on the money. A unique and fun surfing sensation for sure! Your earlier posts inspired me to dust my edge off and I had two really fun sessions on it. Looking forward to more when the waves get right.Rode my edge board today (6'2 ) for the first time.

Ellis Ericson still has a few spots open for his USA shaping trip in November.

I may have mentioned this before,but when I spoke with Mike Wallace (@surf_iconoclast on IG)about edge boards and Ellis at the Boardroom, he told me edge boards are very trackie using multi-fin and theorized that these boards evolved due to this. Ellis obviously makes more traditional single fin edge boards as well.
Call them what you will. I thought they were closer to tri-plane. My own knock off
I rode mine in really good long hollow right-handers today.
What an incredible feeling of speed and lightness and looseness and still control.

I have been riding single fins on and off for more than 20 years.
This is nothing new for me.
