Djokovic's problem is that he has a lot of attention on him. There's millions doing the same / worse etc. .... just an optics issue

He falsified docs.

May be banned from Australia for 3yrs and never get a chance to defend his Aussie Open Title :roflmao:

Why didn’t he just comply?
I have zero sympathy for this dumb Serb.

You want to go to Australia and play tennis?

Follow the rules or stay the fück home.

He lied on the entry form.
He participated in photo shoots and social events after being tested positive.
Then he cried how unfairly he was treated.

97 out of the top 100 ATP players are vaxxed.

Every single player who entered the AO is vaxxed.

But this primadona couldn't because of some wellness voodoo.

I'm glad Australia stood by the decision to deport him.

Wellness anti-vaxxers are the worst.

There are millions of people submitting false documents to the Australian government when they apply for a visa?
He followed all of the rules and was technically in compliance regarding his exemption. They denied his appeal because of fear of “unrest”. He bucked the narrative. Truth is dangerous.

Also, why in the fuck would an elite athlete get a covid vaccination when their risk from covid is so infinitesimally minimal?

Because they’re required to In order to participate?

And no, he wasn’t technically in compliance with the rule anyone entering Australia must be vaccinated. Australian courts agree with me, not you.

Wrong again. He did not follow the rules.

He lied on the entry form.
He participated in social events knowing he was COVID positive.

That's why his exemption was revoked.

Try again.

Melbourne, Australia (CNN)Novak Djokovic was granted a medical exemption to compete in the Australian Open as he had recently recovered from Covid-19, documents published on Saturday by Australia's Federal Circuit Court show.

Djokovic is a year younger than Nadal and if he was half as well-liked as Federer, he'd already be considered the GOAT. Him being broadly disliked predates Covid.

His career is already legendary, and there's no Lance Armstrong fall from grace in the cards. The notoriously racquet-up-the-ass tennis snob world powers-that-be at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, etc. might try to use Covid vaccination as a pretext to deny Djokovic entry in hopes he doesn't pull ahead of Federer/Nadal. In a year I'd fault the tennis world for that, not Djokovic.

Đoković's style of play is not fun to watch, he plays with a ruthless, robot like efficiency.
Every time Federer swings a racquet, he creates a work of art. It's incredible to watch, especially slomo.
His backhand is absolutely insane.
Nadal is meh to watch.

Having said that, Đoković is in better shape than other two oldies and he stayed largely injury free. Another 5-6 Grand Slams is not out of question for him, which would blow all records out of the water for a long time to come.

That is unless he doesn't ruin is with his anti-vaxx bullshit.

I wouldn't go as far as grand conspiracy against him, the tennis world doesn't dictate COVID rules.

Rules are rules, assimilate or GTFO. :dancing:

Maybe he didn’t want to have a heart attack

And Australia is ripe for unrest, that’s what happens when a country goes full authoritarian

This, right here. He lied on his visa application. That will get you flagged from
any country in the world. if you want to take a principled stand, your visa application is not the place to do it.

not sure how they know that he lied.
Because the photos from the photshoot exist, his own social media posts and the interview with L'Equipe as well.
Test date revealed when he knew he was postive.
He lied and said he didnt know until days later.
He also lied that he didnt travel anywhere 14 days before the trip to Australia.
Or something.

What was the lie? I honestly don’t know.
