DHD and JS have both had some struggles with their US product being less than ideal in their early roll outs.

I needed a board for a trip at the last minute and picked up a second hand DHD off the used rack that was literally made for a Rip Curl store label and the thing was gold. I don't remember the model but it was beefy. Like 6'0" x20.5 x 2 7/8 or something but the rails were tucked and the foil was thinned out enough that it didn't have that overly buoyant, corky feeling. It broke when I slipped getting in at the Lane on a high tide. I tried to get it duplicated by a well respected ghost shaper and the board that came back was garbage.
