He's only doing that to keep the economy chugging along during this once in a lifetime pandemic. Which by most accounts and compared to EU countries we're doing much better than most anticipated with this type of economic self-restricted, ass-fook, shut-down.

He actually wants to do it NOW. It's not permanent by any stretch or definition. It can't and won't be. It'd be cool to not have payroll taxes deducted forever, but no way realistic, and even he knows that.

Dems would rather us go full backwards into complete shut-down again.
(with 3 month national mask mandate or attempted murder will be charged :monkey: . We'd need full border/airport lock-downs for that to even have a slim chance to work, this sh*t is worldwide, thanks China guv).

Then insure full government dependence for low to middle wage earners (or former earners).

Universal Basic Income for all! "we're only here to help you". Keep those Benji press machines running at full tilt....forever.
Trump said he wants to eliminate the payroll tax permanently if reelected.

Trump said he wants to eliminate the payroll tax permanently if reelected.
He said "thru the end of this year" back in March 2020, when COVID-19 economic shutdown damage was in full tilt.

More recently, he wanted to enact it from Sept 1 thru year end 2020. Now, if re-elected, he mentioned starting it in Jan 2021, but without an "end date" mentioned.

“On the assumption I win, we are going to be terminating the payroll tax after the beginning of the new year,” Trump said during a White House press briefing on Wednesday evening.

Show me where he said "permanently", as in forever?''

Just more MSM spin and misquotes.

If you heard Mnuchin's more detailed explanation of it, you'd know that it's just until the economy gets back to "normal" and that the SS and Medicare payouts would NOT be affected. AND, any funds formerly from payroll tax not applied will be redirected from the general income fund. Not ideal, but to get and keep the economy going thru all this uncertainty, a payroll tax cut into 2021 would give many confidence to get thru the coming year economically and keep people spending on "stuff" well into 2021.

Once the economy stabilizes, either thru a CV-19 vaccine or whatever, then we can add the payroll taxes back to peoples paychecks.

Say what you will about the USPS ability to handle a majority mail-in election, Trump is actively trying to make it impossible.
wouldnt a real leader be working to INCREASE the capacity of the USPS during this election season since we’re in a pandemic.

Imagine if Obama actively suppressed voting like this

There's always Fedex or UPS. It'd be cheaper and more effective, although they don't deliver to cemetery plots so that might disenfranchise a critical Democrat voting bloc.

Not seeing Trump taking any States he lost in 16, but as that election showed us anything is possible.
Just came across this gem while looking up stories about the election on this date in 2016. How'd this work out? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: From the brilliant minds at Vox:

Right now polls show Donald Trump losing every single swing state
By Andrew Prokopandrew@vox.com Aug 15, 2016, 1:50pm EDT

Donald Trump’s post-convention collapse has hurt him in the polls across the country. But it’s really hurt his numbers in some crucial swing states in particular — states that would be enough to give Hillary Clinton an Electoral College majority.

Now Trump is trailing in an average of post-convention poll results for every swing state from the past two cycles. That includes, of course, the traditional powerhouses of Florida and Ohio, where Clinton has taken single-digit leads.

But there are six states that have moved especially dramatically in Clinton’s direction.

Four of these — Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire — have pretty consistently supported Democratic presidential candidates for decades, and are returning to old form despite speculation that Trump could put them in play this year.

Can't this tactic be countered by everyone getting their votes in early?

That should be what everyone prioritizes now.

Trump is trying to rig the election in plain sight.

So people need to respond accordingly.

What winner will trigger the most civil unrest?

Trump or Biden?

I think it's going to be gnarly either way.

I think if trump wins again, it will be worse protesting, because like I said, he's rigging the election in plain sight.

What a shithole America became.
