People want it

they wanted the protection post 9/11 and they want it now

way more people care about avoiding having their plane blow up or getting a potentially terminal disease than taking off their shoes at the airport or getting temperature screenings
People are idiots

They don't realize that when they want it now, it's going to be there when they don't want it anymore

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

who are these people who are calling for super extended lockdowns?

the lockdown is a temporary bridge to a more permanent and less costly solution

China was locked down for a few months now they are reopening with better precautions

we will do some variation of the same
A few months is an extended lockdown

This fucking idiot is Biden's advisor

How is the factual event an anecdotal evidence?

How many people who recovered from the virus were exposed again and tested for the second time?

What makes you think Korean instances of second infections are not repeatable?
It’s still anecdotal. Just like the people who took malaria drugs and immediately improved.

The big issue of giving up privacy and giving more government control is that more than likely once that is given the gov will never give it back.
Just like the Patriot Act.
Never-ending pandemic/Never-ending war

A valid concern, but to say Govt never gives it back is simply untrue. Prohibition ended and after hurricanes or other natural disasters movement restrictions are always ended.

1. comprehensive testing, including for antibodies available at no cost to everyone that asks.
2. utilize above to determine who can and cannot reintegrate with a comprehensive monitoring and deterrent system to manage everyone.
3. maintain isolation until earlier of either 1. and 2. in place or societal collapse.

many will be triggered by the above but this is the way out IMO; the idea that we can simply "go back to work" and let herd immunity solve the problem is pure folly from which grave consequences will follow.

any attempts at short cuts and premature reopening will be met with a new wave of infections and even greater economic damage than if 1. and 2. were implemented.

Agree, never is a poor word choice. The current use of fear-mongering and promises of a safer world, just like the patriot act, getting out of, 'if we don't do this we are putting lives at risk' scenario is not going to happen.

Not creating herd immunity NOW likely means it will appear again in autumn. Then what do we do? Shut down again?

Why do people just think corona viruses are going to disappear? They aren't. We are going to have to build immunity to them and deal with it.

the problem with testing is 30% tested are giving false negatives and 3-10% of recovered COVID patients are testing positive again.
(Tongji doctors say they have found no evidence of the patients who again tested positive being infectious)

Do they have a valid antibody test?

Society is much more likely to collapse from extended economic shutdown than even 1% of the population dying

‘I go run almost every morning. A very common scenario I run across goes Like this...

Ahead of me of me on the sidewalk someone will be walking a large dog. Often the dog will be as big or bigger than the person walking it (child or petite lady).

ive been attacked by dogs while running so this scenario is a possible threat to my safety.

Now, I have every right to use this sidewalk and so does the dog walker. So do I try to force the dog walker to refrain from walking the dog? do I lobby for dog/walker weight ratio regulations?

No, I cross the fucking street because that reduces my risk of being attacked.

If you are at risk from dying of a virus then by all means, stay home if you want.

Meanwhile, stop destroying lives, businesses, futures, dreams of others because of your own individual fears.
