Today I bought what I need for a 9'6" 21" 4"(+-) longboard. The Cosmic Glider. It will be yellow.

I got 6 sheets of 5cm thick XPS for $50. Its super hard, it says 300 for compressability. I didn't have any plywood left, so I had to buy a sheet. It was expensive, $50 for a 240cm X 60cm X 6mm. But I will create some furniture from it too, so it's ok. Luckily I have about 5kg of epoxy and alot of fibreglass left over from my earlier shapings. I made my last board during Christmas 2018. For reference of my shaping prowess, I bring you a pictur of my last doing:

I only glued the sheets and I had to make the stringer out of two pieces of plywood, since this board will be quite long. Tomorrow I will most likely do the rocker, rails, split the board and glue the stringer in place.

For shapage I swear by the simple sound of silence. I have not thought about that before you mentioned it, I will try some music for when I go there tomorrow! My musical tastes swing in the direction of socialist punk!

Today after my surf I sawed the blank and glued the stringer. Hope it does not fall over during the night.

Today I realized I was too deep in. I started drawing the outline from some old print-outs from Blendingcurves.com.
Started with a 20cm tail. Ended up at 15cm. Must keep it narrow so it won't just skip across the water with no steering.

It will be 20" wide, so it'll be nice to carry and paddle. Parallel sides with about 4' of curved planshape toward the stern. The nose is a simple cock inspired shape.
I plan for 3/4" of belly in the board combined with 2" of tail rocker. 2' of flat in the nose for those sweet noserides! Just gotta find out how to create that and also keep the transitions smooth.

I cut the shape, and saw the stringer being crooked like a jewish landlord. So I must make a new reference line on the deck.

Here is the outline nose to tail.

It came to my mind, I gotta check that the 9'6" can fit into my car!!! When I tried to get the board out of the shaping dungeon, I could not get it out of the last door!!! So I cut it down to 9'1", but still no luck in getting it through the maze of doors down there. Then I realized, there is a window I can use when it is done.

Here I have drawn a new outline before cutting off the old snout!

Tomorrow I will do the rocker, and hopefully the belly too, if I can figure out how to do it. If i want 2cm of belly and 5cm of rocker along the stringer, it will have 7cm of rail rocker at the tail. Combined with round rails I should be able to burry the board at the stern for some Titanic-style noserides!

How the hell did I miss this thread?!

Cosmic glider is way too vanilla to come out of the kitty furnace dungeon

This board will not be vanilla. I have decided for it to be yellow.

Yesterday I made the rocker from blendingcurves, and today I carved it out.
To save some time on using the planer, I cut the shape out before doing the rocker, so it would be less surface to cover. This makes it a bit harder to get curve in the beak, since now there is no straight side on the blank to draw the curve on. I simply worked around this issue by bending the measuring stick around the tip of the board :) Very clever!

The hunting dog enjoys watching different kinds of work, and participating too. Here he is in the shapesman room after his daily run in the forest.

Tomorrow or the day after, I will do the belly of the beast. Flat in the nose, increasing to 1cm in the first 1 1/2 feet, then going to 2cm for the remainder of the board. Then it will be time for the rails and deck.
