it's the best film ever made

when they put it out in the theaters for the 50th anniversary, I saw it up at the massive 70mm projector screen in hollywood...at arclight, I think.

I went twice

Tell me this was you...

Damn I think this guy may have been someone more important than you, cause he managed to get all the videos removed.

Went to see 2001 when it was first released in 1969 in Hollywood at Graumans Chinese theater for my birthday as a grom.

It was an "event". The sound was incredible along with visuals. One of my top 10 childhood memories.

Was hoping to see it at Cinerama Dome, but no go.

Pacific Vibrations was the 2001 Space Odyssey of surf films back in '71.

Saw that on big screen in the old Fox Redondo theater not long before it was torn down.

First surf film as a grom and it definitely left an impression. I think a few in the audience were droppin'.

I've only dropped L a few times in the late 70's. It was enough. Some trips good, some were weird. Bodysurfing was surreal.

The limitations of special effects caused a hyper compensation on the film makers' part.

I just watched again. I can believe how much CGI takes away from the art.

Watching that movie is like taking a master class in cinematography. 55 years old, zero CGI, and the special effects still amaze.

This is a pretty interesting book.

You get to see how they didn't know what they were doing and how much they struggled.

That is a good illustration of the creative process.

Art is hard for even the people who are talented.

The Kubrick exhibit at LACMA about 5yrs ago was stellar. I went twice and still didn’t feel like I took it all in.

Did any of you go to the 14th Factory art exhibit in Lincoln Heights back in 2017? They rebuilt the set from 2001 with meticulous detail. A good friend who’s an art handler worked on the show. So we got access after hours and ate shrooms and partied in this room. It was pretty wild…

the custom lenses were the most interesting part

take an afternoon and watch Barry Lyndon. it's his most underrated work....amazing story

he shot all the interior scenes with natural light and special lenses that allowed him to capture in candle lit sets to maintain the overarching ambiance of the period

the gambling scenes are rich

I went to that, took my kids, who were a little embarrassed at the Clockwork Orange mannequins.

I had a laugh because Vandenburg AFB is now Vandenburg SFB on the signage along the 101

I love that the writer of the piece pointed out that one particular video was made on an Android phone.

Why didn't you post CK's actual quote instead of telling us what someone else says that he said?

I know my parents loved me. But there were still very problematic things that I went through," Kaepernick told CBS News. "I think it was important to show that, no, this can happen in your own home, and how we move forward collectively while addressing the racism that is being perpetuated."
Kaepernick says that he was inspired to braid his hair into cornrows like his hero, NBA star Allen Iverson. His parents were not fans of the hairstyle, the former NFL quarterback recalls.
After getting the hairstyle, Kaepernick says that his adoptive mother told him that his hair was "not professional" and that he "looked like a little thug."
