It's not hard to have both Futures and FCS boards. In fact, it's quite liberating.

Also, you don't need thousands of dollars worth of fins in one system.

A few fin sets from each brand is sufficient.
I still have a few FCS2 sets but my boars are 90% futurds now.
What’s a few? Are you implying that I don’t need 10 different upright twin templates in futurds??
TBF, thats pretty much what I’ve ridden majority of last 3-4 yrs

One set of your favorite fins in each system. I tend to like upright fins so Reactors in FCS and WCT's in Futures work for me in almost everything. I don't like neutral templates so I don't have any need for those. I have 1 set of raked fins that I really don't use all that often but have them just in case (MF's in FCS). I'd get a set of DHD's if I picked up a board with Futures that needed a raked fin.

I like FCS twins so maybe a raked and upright twin template in FCS (I'd probably only use the uprights).

I also like FCS quad options better so I'd use the MF's in front and a set of upright flat foiled rear fins. No need for expensive quad or 5 fin sets, IMO. Just purchase a couple of quad rear sets and mix/match with your favorite front fin templates.

Couple of specialty fin sets here and there that are fins made for the board, of course :)

A proper fin quiver shall have -

pivot/neutral/raked thruster in medium and large.

quad rears in both 80/20 and flat foils medium and large

pivot/raked twin set in medium and large

keel set medium and large

thats 16 sets per system. Assume $100 per set, we’re at a few grand.

dang.

If I'm being honest, I could probably get by on 10 sets of upright twins and 2 quads. LOL

Im glad I put on a little weight so I'm firmly a large fin guy now. Hanging in that middle ground of like 160-175lbs is hell on a fin budget.

I still never wish for L size quad rears though. Mediums are fine.

I’m unfortunately in this camp (fluctuate between 165 - 175) and have about 14 sets of FCSII fins. The only set I have both large and medium are the MF’s. I run the mediums in my Ghost. I could definitely thin the herd, but it’s always in the back of my mind that when I get a new board, that “one” set I sold may make a bort magic.

I’m 6’1 / 165lbs and have around 15 sets of futures fins. Some mediums, some larges, some medium-larges.

remember when a tri set was around $50, and it wasn’t nearly as difficult to justify new sets.

I rarely buy fins theses days. I stopped selling them, too.

Wouldn't it be fairly plausible to tag the trailing edge of your fin on something (like my heel when I turn to paddle for a wave on a small quad or twin) and pop it out?
Most certainly.
Been there, done that with fcs2.
I now use grub screws in the rear threads of all my fcs2 boxes.

The MFs really are excellent quad fronts. Surprised they haven't been selling a 5 fin set.

The last 10 posts really belong in the fin thread, or they might already be there.

But I have probably 3-4 fin sets these days.
Hess Quad
AM2 thruster that needs a refresher
Some massive CF Archy thruster model that someone gave me.
I might have a pair of Roberts thrusters still too.
