I like trucks. I've had just about every size of Ford- Ranger, 150, 250. But all the new (small) trucks have that small bed that you can neither sleep in nor put even a shortboard in. I'll keep my vanagon for now...

10K lbs is nothing these days really. Turbo v6ers can tow that.
The Tesla model X can tow 5k.
My Tundra can tow 9k and is a total gas hog.

So if the Tesla truck can tow anywhere between 5-10k thats good for 75% of people that need or want to tow.

That’s a four door car with a trunk that has no lid.
Right it is. So the truck probably won’t have a front engine so that will be storage like the car ‘frunk ’. The bed will be empty too like the car trunk except no trunk lid but more truck bed storage like a standard truck. All of the batteries have been on the underside of the cars probably the truck as well. I have no idea of actual towing capacity for this new truck but I bet it’s over 5k. Only reason I’m comparing the X to a truck is because the truck isn’t out yet so I get it’s not an apples to apples comparison. Like the 150 and 250 and tundra and Tacoma are different tow capacities but there are SUV’s towing similar weights.

And yes it rolls coal at some points in its manufacturing process. Definitely doesn’t have the best carbon footprint either.
Tesla cars are just a unique vehicle that unless you have the balls to own one, you’ll never know how bitchen they are. Gas, electric or other, the cars are pretty fun to drive, low to no maintenance, and comparably priced to most any other new vehicle.

I tow with my F-250 V 10. When pulling a travel trailer I get 5 to the gallon.
I should have got the diesel
A friend of mine towed a travel trailer with a gmc 6.2l gas engine & got 8-10 mpg.
The new gm 6.6l gas engine looks promising

Unloaded 10 to 12 mpg. The diesel is 15 to 18 i think. The diesel cost $3000 more than gas at the time. Also gas cost less than diesel at the time.

260000 miles and no drama yet

Rivian looks better

These do look interesting. I like that cross compartment behind the cab.

I was told the Tesla can actually hold its own as far as towing goes, which is surprising. It’s really not a true pick up truck though. It will be heavy which may be problematic in some states such as NY where any pick up truck over 6k needs to be registered commercial and can’t drive on parkways.

I’m trying to pull the trigger on a new truck but the prices have my head spinning.
