This is true. Tesla had the advantage and disadvantage of starting from scratch when building an EV. They are way head of the traditional OEMs when it comes to data gathering to optimize range, among other things. And despite the billions that Nissan/Renault, Daimler, GM etc have thrown at full EVs (not hybrids), Teslas still have better range and performance. Now, whether Musk can make money is an open question. But he has the product. If you've ever spent any time in a Model 3 you know that it's a great transportation device.
