I was in a gym and they would always play gangster rap.

There was a little black kid in there playing because his mom was training.

It was all "nigger nigger nigger" blasting on the stereo.

It bummed me out. That is not what a little black kid needs to hear. Any kid for that matter.

I almost told the owner to turn it off.

I just left instead.
Yeah, I’m usually pretty oblivious to lyrics, even for songs I love
I just don’t pay attention to what songs are about

But it’s really touch to ignore in hip hop
Weird thing is that in the last couple of weeks, I’ve developed an appreciation for the music, the rhythm, the chord progressions, or at least some of it
I wish it was something the whole family could enjoy together

Yes. Some rap songs work.

Some of the rappers have really deep rich vocal tone that is a gift of Mother Nature (I took in a recording of a black guy singing to my vocal teacher and asked how do they get their voice to do that? She said genetics, the structure of their vocal folds.)

Some of the humor is good too. There is some clever word play.

Put on a rap costume and say to your family "Gather around my [n-words]. Lets listen to some rap!"

I try to do rap and it morphs into some weird white guy sh!t.

I’m not going to listen to that
I’m cringing just even thinking about how bad a rapper you are
