The erbb mini obsession with Yury is contagious. I just watched a couple of his clips. He looked best on the midlength Love Machine. My 2 cents. My friend Nick used to be a pro in Japan. One of the pointers he gave me for surfing soft waves was to sit a little farther out than you think you should and when you commit to a wave paddle hard. You want your boar matching the speed of the wave before you even stand up. Then pump hard rail to rail to generate speed for a turn. I always feel drained surfing small soft waves cause I’m supplying so much more energy than when the waves have push.

Yury sits inside and Cadillacs into waves. I guessing so he can get a lot of chances for videoing or his place in the pecking order. The boars I watched were the Too Fish a Mini Simmons and the mid length. Cheater boars. Easy to catch waves so there’s was no aggressive paddle in to match the speed of the wave. Then when he stood up his form looks improved from what I remembered the last time the erbb got me to watch a clip of his. He’s bending his knee and his upper body is quiet. Problem looks like he’s not using as much of the dynamic range of motion he could. Plus the cheater boars volume look like it’s harder to tip over on rail for him. Maybe some Triactin.

Whatever law of motion in physics, for ever action there’s an equal and opposite reaction. If he pushes harder on the pumps the push back will generate more speed which will make it easier to do turns. The Love Machine is longer and heavier basically a mini tank. Easier to generate speed cause much more rail is engaged in his pumps plus the momentum from its weight.

F*ck Yury if you read this you owe me whatever you pay your coach for the 20 minutes I watched your surfing and the time I typed this out on my phone.

100% agree
Mechanically, there's something wrong when he pumps so that he's not getting the most out of his movement. He makes it look hard. Triactin to the rescue
I also think he looks best on midsize where he doesn't have to generate as much speed himself. the shorter stubbier boars he forces just don't look good.
20 min of him? I can't watch more than 30 sec clips on Instagram.

I watched about 2 minutes of him took 18 to type out a post. I gotta translate in my head from Hawaii moke to English to erbb/Havoc. Don’t know which makes my head hurt more. Watching clips of someone not pushing hard or doing the translation. Faka ben ur fakin knees brah to third law of thermal dynamics to put on the big boy shorts and push a little harder duu.

Do you feel drained after surfing small waves? If you are used to head high or better surf and want to be in peak small wave conditioning join my Surfer House Swap program. We'll trade houses for a year (for a nominal fee*) and my mostly waist high East Coast spot with 100 frothers will have you begging for more!
No thanks. That would be emotionally draining too.

We can trade houses but there’s no way the dawn patrol at my regular spots would let anyone take my spot in the lineup. My friend, don’t tell him we’re friends Kahai, always goes I’m number 4 now that John went in. Last week all the uncles went in at the same time and Kahai was at the top of the pecking order. I asked him what happened. He said he waited for a set for a long time his legs got stiff and he face planted on the bottom turn. The curse of priority. Haha.

Yuri strikes me as someone with cinderblocks for shoes.

their hips and shoulder move before their feet and are always off balance. It’s like half a second or less but the end result is this stiff out of sync movement I think we are seeing.

sometjmes you see it when folks are playing a game like tennis where they need to quickly react and they move their upper body before setting their legs/stance are ready for that movement.

Yuri and his kind is bred to trek across the Mongolian Steppe. Try carrying a Yurt on your back from age 5 and then tell me about your agility.

Here is his Yurt back home in Mongolia.

Upgraded with satelite TV, solar power and a bowl. The door is from his late grandma's old tent. They are ment to be mobile, still they all have a giant door like that, framed with 2"x4":roflmao:

Surfing is hard if you have no athletic background or talent. We compare ourself to pros who are in the top 0,01% of the surfing population skillwise. That's fairly stupid when most of us surf a few times pr week and half-ass it. Yuri is doing just fine compared to when he started and the amount he is in the water.

I owe Yuri a lot. Many of my best posts have been at his expense.

He’s been working with OMBE for 6 months And videoing himself non stop? Damn. Need to try something different. Maybe go way down in volume. Like pro level volume. Learn through pain.
I watched your Waco clips and was talking to Gregg about it. He said the whole LH crew has been telling you to open up your shoulders more on your turns. With your height and leverage you’ll be throwing Margo buckets.
