Looking at rescuing a Boston Terrier from a shelter, any of you fine people had any experience with them? Good or bad I’m keen to hear it.

If enough info I may show t!ts. :drunk:

Every one I've ever known was a nice dog, albeit a little crazy

They have a somewhat smooshed head so they're prone to more breathing problems and I think eye bug out problems more than other dogs.

However, you're rescuing a good boy so it will be good for you and the dog no matter what

My dad had lots of wire-haired Terriers before I came along. I guess he got rid of the little beasts, they eat babies I hear. So my first dog was a Boston Terrier name Ike-e who closely resembled our current US President at the time. He was a great first dog.

I have a Boston x Pug (they make em like that apparently) Having owned many pugs growing up, I can notice the difference in character traits in him. As Ifallalot says, crazy, energetic, fun and intelligent dogs - you cannot go wrong.

Some others I've seen (including my current one), can be a little Barky at times.

I dog sat my buddies 1 year old Boston for a couple weeks. Non stop happy dog energy. Fun but definitely a handful.

Stay away from terriers in general. They are bred to kill rats. They’re not meant to be house pets. If you’re looking for a little psycho to keep in a barn and kill rodents all day, go for it

The little fvckers can jump like no other. Cracks me up.

But, as with other bulge-eye breeds, you should be careful about his eyes. We've got a little french bulldog with eyes like a Boston's and he gets eye ulcers all the time (usually from scratching around their eye and accidentally hitting it with a nail). They're kinda like canker sores on the eyeball, but not as bad unless they get infected. Anyway, every time it happens it's another trip to the vet to get prescription eye drops. Available for $10 online, but no vet will give you a standing prescription so it winds up costing $100+ every time. Our little asshole has had done this to himself about 6-8 times in the last year alone. Rescue place should be able to tell you if he has issues with them.

Is that the face you want to look at when it is licking peanut butter off of your... fingers?

One of the bestest goodboys ever. They bork a little, but they're full of vitality and super intelligent.

Having a pet costs you a surf trip every year in expenses. Expensive, messy, giant pain in the ass. The only little furry thing I need is that sweet little tight pussy my wife has.

They can be nasty little fuckers. My cousins had a few and one hated me so much he’d bite my foot and I’d lift him in the air on it.

but one of the only small dogs I can see myself getting.

This. They're mostly good little dogs and need some mental and physical activity to channel their energy. A little leash training goes a long way too.
