I spent a year in Edinburgh in college. Scotland has a lot of variety. Edinburgh is pretty sophisticated. Glasgow is dumpy and industrial like a lot of northern England towns. The Highlands are the closest to Appalachia and when you travel through there you can’t help but think wtf do these people do for a living out here? Common trait all over is heavy smoking, drinking and eating almost totally fried food. Also it rains constantly and everyone seems angry but it could just be the accentScotland is the Appalachia of the British Isles
