I've had some of those too, gotta dig up the pics :) They're not all that I surf, but pretty much my mainstay.

That Malcomb Lynch board is insane looking. They need to do more work together.

I would also like to see some samples of Epoxy Bonzers. I Know the FCD did some a few years back But have not seen any since.

7'5" retrofit

When you say retro fit was this a thruster set up and you did a Bonzer set up?
It was originally a 2+1 and I had it converted to a quad. It worked out that it was basically the same placements as a bonzer for the side flaps. The placements for a quad seem very far forward, but works good as a quad as well. I think the idea was there is a lot of rail to work with.

Here's my Bee. I was told by JP that this is one of the original B's or something along the lines. I guess it's previous owner was one of the OG Bonzer heads. Love it. 6'10 21 1/4 and I can flick it around like no other. Sorta fired up to get one of those elusive 8'0 fins in it cause I can l side out the tail at will. Cedar stinger.

That looks like OT's Junior Mint. Awesome board.
OT turned me on to bonzers big time-- thanks OT!

This is becoming like true confessions............. Now, bonzers I loved and lost, ie never should have sold:

6'0 pod, 6'4 early russ short before it was called that- think they were calling it surfrider auction board or something then :) Should not have sold either but was a student and needed $ for the next ones.

5'6 bee. One of the fastest boards I ever surfed. Stupidly sold that one.

9'1 trim beak gun- traded it with a guy for the more rockered 8'8 above after a near death wipeout. The 8'8 works better on the wave I like at size. Shoulda kept the 9'1 too for other spots though..Beautiful board

- One of my old Bonzers. Not a "Bee". It was called the Junior Mint. Malcolm & I worked it out with several different templates. In many ways it was the model for the RS, but the RS came out a lot more '70s style. But the JM was the first of the retro line. The Bee came about when I fell in love with the JM and brought it back up after close to a year and asked Malcolm to squish it down. I'll post up some shots of the original Bee later.
If your board could talk, it could tell some tales. Indo, Moroc, Mex, Centro, up & down CA. It changed the whole enchilada for me!
 :applause2:

I had no idea.

If your ever in San Diego or crusing down to Baja, drop me a line. I'd have no problem letting you take it for a spin again.

I think the mint should be looked at again. The board loves the reefs and throaty beach breaks.

6'5 pod, red x system- good board. I overfoamed it on the order as I am prone to do. Got one of the best barrels of my life on it. Sold it to Capt. Mike who is basketball player tall and he killed it on this.

Maiden run on a fun CA trip to pick it up

Best part about this thread is the memory lane trip!!! Good times-- First two customs I got from Malcolm: 6'3 e-wing 5 fin fish (before it was called an octofish). Copy of GWS's orange one, pinelines and all :) I overfoamed that on ordering it, but it worked really well in heavy rubber and sideshore rips. Should've kept that one for sure :) Great board. Buddy of mine and another local also had boards in the box that arrived- we ripped it open like kids on x-mas morning!!! :)

in action, maiden run:

The second custom in that box for me was a magic magic 7'4.. Like a trim beak russ short (before it was called that) with an e-wing. 20"wide, 2 5/8ths. Pretty similar to the 7'5 russ short I have now but racier/thinner. Swear to the God of 5 fins, that board never saw a section it couldnt make.. Absolute speed, control and confidence-- it basically surfed itself in juicy waves. brought it to Hawaii and it lasted several seasons of punishment with the bombproof moonlight glassing before I sold it for real cheap when it had buckled and was on its last leg. Cant find any good board porn photos of it but have some east coast action shots of it:

Theres been a few others as well...
Fun thread- which will probably increase my wait time for finished bonzers, but those guys deserve all the credit and lots of thanks for years of great boards and good times!
Thanks all-- keep em coming! :jam_on:

nice! The swallow tail pod looks fun. I bought that octafish off of you. Surfed it lots for the summer then sold it when my Mb5 was coming- probably should have held on to that one too :)
On the uploading photos thing, I made a photobucket account as per nj. Copy/pasting from there to here is pretty easy, although it seemed I had to break up larger multi photo posts into separate replies.
