Looking for fin suggestions for a 6'2" Flyer. I've been using the Vector 467's with the 425 hatchet and I am looking for something that would give me a different feel. I ride beachbreaks and am 6'0" and 185-190 lbs so I would need something in a medium or large template.

Have you tried the go to fins the Am1's I liked them to tighten up my robber on bigger steeper days

In the Future Fin the bigger of the Merricks are the AM2. Been riding them in my wider tail boards for years.

Also a bigger fin in the Pancho Sullavin.

Test them out

I'm around your size, have ridden the AM's, Panchos, Rusty's, and several other 'big guy' Future fins. My favorite is Simon Anderson's design in size L - Future SA3 RTM. Great all purpose fin for the bigger bloke, and just hauls ass in walled up beachbreak.

i hated those. way too stiff. rtm jc1's on a flyer type board work for me.

SA 4 is the ALL TIME futures set-up for bigger guys. Smooth, snappy, holds right in there. I love that these fins do everything right.

Tokoros. A little lighter then you and use them as a step up fin.

Still East Coast waves, you can prob get away with a med sized template most of the time like the YU if you want to looser feel?

Yep, futures AM2 in glass or rtm.
this! the large-size merrick template is my go-to fin for thrusters.
the pancho fin could work, but you might want to pair it w/ a smaller center fin, like an f4 or something.
i recently demoed, & kinda liked, the mb2.

Try the Roberts fins. Better drive than the AM2s and the Roberts have a quicker release because they are more upright.
or TP1's. not as big as Roberts so for his size they'd work

Thanks for all of the replies, lots of good suggestions. I think I am going to try either the AM2's or YU's to start. What's the deal with the Tech Flex - worth the extra bucks?

NO! don't. such a waste. even me at 15lbs heavier thinks they're way too much fin. make between twin fins. the AM1's are pretty much the fin designed for a flyer.

eastern,

I think we're about matched in size.
Ive tried just about every L fin set futures has to offer.

You have to consider what board your gonna throw these in?

Thruster:
For wider tails the AM2 or Roberts with a small center trailer performs the best for me. They have a good amount of rake/base for drive and alot of depth with a smaller tip for release and pivot.

This actually would be my go to set-up for any board. Ive tried TP1 and SA4's. They lack drive and speed for me. I also tried Techflex...garbage.

Am2's or Roberts are extremely close in template and dims. Roberts fins have a mild V2 where AM2 are flat foil.

I like inside foil the best. Gives extra lift and something to push off of.

Best bet for thruster Get L fronts and considerably flexy smaller trailer. Quad rears, True ames rears 80/20 are the best. Or some 400's either composite or rtm.

Another option would be Hayden Shapes V2.

All the best

You might be the only one...
Most guys around 200 seem to like the AM2 (bigger am template).
+1 The little Am's lack drive.

I'm your size and have been running the MB1 and MB2 in my White and Black Diamonds and I really like them. Good drive, great release, not as rakey as the AM2.
