Biden just said if I buy an electric car I will save $80 a month on fuel costs.

solid analysis.
I’m selling my 2004 Tacoma and buying a Tesla.

Can’t wait to start saving so much money!

I should buy two Teslas. Double the savings!!!

And think of how much cleaner for the earth it will be when I buy a newly produced vehicle instead of continuing to drive the one that was made 18 years ago!!!

Assuming the guy I sell it to never drives it…

Average EV is around $50k

So in 625 months (52 years) I’ll recoup my outlay.

Why didn’t I think of this?
write it off on your business dummy, the gumbint give tax credits for EVs too.

you probably save more than that in fuel when accounting for electricity usage

grandpa biden like most politicians has been known to be a poor communicator of facts

Hire a good CPA dummy and you'd be surprised how much he can save you from paying Sam, turbotax ain't gonna cut it

mr fancy needs a bimmer and a porsche?

have you seen the Rivian truck

“First and foremost, it’s important to understand three little words the government slips in front of the $7,500 credit – “may” and “up to.” As in, you may qualify for up to $7,500 in federal tax credit for your electric vehicle. At first glance, this credit may sound like a simple flat rate, but that is unfortunately not the case.”

MAY qualify for UP TO $7,500.

Ok. Rivian Truck starts at $79,500.

So I’m $72k out of pocket (and contrary to your belief you can’t write off a personal vehicle as a business expense).

$80 a month savings in fuel cost.

900 months.

75 years to recoup my money from the gas savings.

I’ll be 126 years old.

Isn’t it better for the planet for me to just keep my Tacoma rather than having a whole nuther car built?

Can’t afford gas? Buy this $80,000 electric truck. You‘ll “save money”.

You could spend $80K on a 16 MPG Ford Raptor, too. 12K miles per year @ 5 bucks a gallon = $3750/year in gas for a big-ass truck that screams "I have a small penis!" for almost the same amount of up front $$.

as long as you use the vehicle on the job you can. do you hire a CPA who actually knows how to itemize, deduct, depreciate?
or are you too much of a tight arse and use turbo tax?

.

you act like you're paying the 72k up front you're not, it gets paid off over time at a fairly low historical low interest rate while the currency is debasing at 10-15% per year

likely you're saving much more on gas than Brandon states,
whatever you monthly fill up costs - the minor electric costs would be the true figure

that or continue to drive a shitbox and complain one day when it breaks down on the way a jobsite
