Forget employment, productivity, industrial output, GDP, manufacturing, investment, consumer spending, or any other statistic that measures the health of the economy. Lots of people think the economy is in the tank solely because prices have gone way up from what they were 2 years ago.
So the solution is what?
Roll back prices? Not a solution, deflation is death to an economy.
Paying people more? That causes...more inflation.
Drill for more oil? When that oil hits the world market in 5 years, oil prices might go down a bit. Willing to wait?
Reduce demand by slowing the economy down a little bit but not enough to cause unemployment? Maybe.
