Hey is there anyone who can help me in choosing a board to buy? I was thinking of buying a single fin, but Im not sure if I should buy a Channel islands single fin or just a noserider (9+ ft) - what brands would you recommend. Also, I don't surf very often since I live in the east coast but I just got really stoked after a trip to Costa Rica. I am 5 ft 11 and weigh around 175 lbs.

with some K fins <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

I would recommend picking up a nice used longboard or egg if you want to surf once in awhile. Those are always easy to mess around on even if you have no interest in getting “good” or whatever…

You could also get a retro fish or retro single fin but make sure it’s a forgiving one and not designed for guys who rip but want variety…

What is the difference between a retro fish and an egg. I was considering a fish, just because they are known to glide even in small surf, but I would like to try to improve on the water. Whats your take on the MSF? I was looking on the CI website and it says the MSFG2 just came out.

Also, while I have been browsing through sellers and what not, I have noticed all this stuff about Clark Foam and have tried to stay updated here on surfer mag. Do you think I should just buy a board since prices are thought to sky rocket, or should I do the traditional wait and try out different boards before I go out.

Right now I am leaning towards the CI single fin since it combines the single fin feel I want with not such a long board. If I am 5' 11, whats a good height?

Thanks for the help,
Fred
