Hardly. I’m saying decide if you’re Eddie, then decide if you’re gonna go. That has nothing to do with Tío Joe. It has everything to do with the quantity of American lives are acceptable collateral damage to the voting public.

My number is zero. What’s your number?

The EU is not a military organization and will of course not fight. They will give up Ukraine.

NATO will fight, though. Not for ukraine but for themselves. They remember the last time an autocratic despot tried to unify Europe under his rule.

If Vald rolls tanks on Lithuania in order to "preserve access to Kalinningrad" or some such pretense, a general NATO - Russia war will ensue. And we will fight, using air and sea power at first.
I don't think anyone is going to do sh!t for Ukraine. Sucks but so does war.

I would expect Latvia. There are a shitload of ethnic Russians living there who were migrated there in the Soviet days.

I just don't see Russia invading a place like Poland or Romania or Slovakia or Hungary and nobody doing anything.

Let’s not forget Russia is poor

The only thing that makes them formidable is their inherited Soviet nuclear weapons

Who wants to take odds that Biden will do nothing significant sanctions wise? So far he's still short of the sanctions that Russia was under when he took office. Going back to that is the same nothing that he's done so far.

Joe's not gonna send troops into Ukraine, nobody is. Ukraine is toast. Joe will send over a few battallions into neighboring NATO countries as a show of support.

Joe will honor our treaty commitments however. Including NATO article 5.

If you join the military and take the pay check, isn’t it sorta what you expected?
My son served in Afghanistan. He didn’t expect to be lied to. After a couple of months he did come to expect to see some of his buddies get blown up so at least he wasn’t disappointed with that.

Few things.

Biden just announced that he's going to address the American people tomorrow to announce what action he's going to take. I'm assuming more soft sanctions. Why on earth is he addressing the nation. If you're going to sanction..speak with western allies and sanction. He's making this an American problem. The US takes in 8-12 million barrels of Russian oil per month. The US is now a net importer of oil under Biden. We have enough domestic energy that the American people should not lose a nickel over this. Production is shuttered all over Texas and New Mexico. This is a problem that can be solved tomorrow. Biden serves the American people and the American people should come first.

Much of this comes from The Obama red line in Syria and the subsequent tough guy talk Biden is fond of using.... if you've ever met a Russian you know it doesn't play well. It's a dare.

The US has been nibbling around the edges of Russia and China for decades albeit for separate reasons. It's long past time for the Russian financial sector to be cut off from the rest of the world. You don;t have to do it all at once. Just pick the biggest bank, perhaps one that has the most mortgages or business lines of credit and take it off the SWIFT system OR make it impossible for Russia to trade oil on the open market through the global financial transaction systems. Either would be a good reminder of who the swinging dick is around here.

Germany needs a reminder as well and they should pay a price for being a Russia benefactor for so long. Some sort of sanctions are in order.

China makes US politicians and institutions very wealthy and they aren't going to bite the hand that feeds them. China is watching this and making the Taiwan calculation. It's decision time with China. China is going to bank Russia and the US needs to act accordingly with financial sanctions against China.

We should act..but not with the Military. It shouldn't take a Russian invasion with Ukraine for Americans not to funnel money into the coffers of countries like China or Russia.

Obama had a fondness for military leaders that never held command and spent their careers in garrison posts or the pentagon. He put them in charge at the Pentagon under the big ideas from guys like Blinken and Sullivan..who subsequently changed the rules of engagement because the previous ones were too mean. It led to the deadliest periods in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ukraine, every one agrees is and always has been a corrupt country. We have a leader who has been a personal benefactor of that corruption. A leader who has a queer, unhealthy fascination with that country. If an American citizen is injured by this guy's evil fixation their blood is on his hands.
