Isn’t making predictions that never come true the opposite of science?

it sort of sounds like religion

A) Science is this:

1 Make (record) observations.
2 Figure out a hypothesis that you think matches the observations.
3 Devise experiment to test the hypothesis.
4 Record results of experiment, list possible sources of error.
5 Do results fit hypothesis?
6 If yes, publish for peer review.
7 If no, start over.

In short, science is a process where the answer is repeatable for all.

B) Religion is this:

1 I believe in XYZ/God told me XYZ
2 Everything else follows from XYZ

In short, religion is not science.

But this is just my simplified take on things. I don't claim my way of seeing things is the only way to see things.

Except a huge portion of the predictions have actually been correct. Keep drinking that Kool-Aid Billy boy
I admit I don’t follow this stuff closely

And that is because there is no point because I will never change my behavior

At the same time, I seem to recall many dire predictions that have not come true

like massive sea level rises, the end of winter, no more snow, etc

the track record for the big predictions seems poor to this guy who doesn’t pay attention

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
As the poets have mournfully sung
Death takes the innocent young

The screamingly funny
The rolling in money

And even the very well hung

No one ever claimed every prediction was correct.

just like not every prediction was wrong.

that’s how predictions work.

Rich white dudes are gonna be pissed when they can't fvck off and become ski bums after college on their daddy's dime.
There's always New Zealand, Canada, Utah, Colorado, Japan, Norway...

It's not as glamorous as you think.
Austria is just across the border.
Easy and cheap train ride.
Living on canned sardines and chicken liver paté.
Sleeping in bunk beds, 10 people per room just to get the pow.

You wouldn't understand.
You know nothing about my life.

Of course you think you do, but you don't.

West of the Atlantic. East of the ICW.
wait, there’s no way humans could alter the planet in only 70 years. It’s not as if we caused a 33% increase in atmospheric CO2 concentrations.
Two things:

1. Our earth, its atmosphere and quite frankly our solar system are far more vast than you seem to think.

2. We humans are far less influential than you seem to think. Hubris. In the grander scheme of things we are no more influential than the ants you squish on the sidewalk.

There are wineries in SW Germany that have been unable to make Eiswein since 2012. The earth is in a warming phase no doubt.
