Matts board has the fins pointed in a fair amount. Probably more loose than a standard mini simmons style board. Nice score Aruka~!
Most minisims are plenty loose with the wide square tail. Those boxes are actually forward compared to more “trad” minisim so should feel more familiar to the stamps WTF. Will be curious what ruker thinks.
At those dims, it’s gonna plane like a mutha once it’s up and going. Had a Mitsven quad similar size and i could legit be out amongst the longboarders on the weakest waves. Was a bit too wide for my taste so I sold it. I’ll probably just buy SBD’s new custom one in a couple years. LOL

I swear I ordered my EAST 5-9 and my Twinsman is a stock 5-10 but they both measure 5'9 1/2" on the deckside FWIW.

I could see going an inch shorter on the EAST since it packs so much foam. Not to disuade you @racer1 since it's a really fun board but it does seem to respond best to a fairly backfooted approach.

I got to ride the Symphony for a quickie this afternoon. AR Twins. It was probably the smallest waves I've attempted to surf at my local in a few years. Very low expectations and I was already kind of surfed out from the morning session down the beach at a more exposed break. Honestly the board felt pretty great, all things considered. It was like knee-to-waist high and with a little bit of a wall to trim on the good ones. Got a few turn sections and the board felt looser than I was expecting but in a good way. I was able to swoop it back into the pocket no problem. Went left a couple times and it felt fine on the backside as well. Not exactly a thorough test but first impressions are good, especially given how meager the surf was. Might try keels next although the upright twins felt fine.

God I wish every company did rocker shots. That was much needed j-mac, Thanks. Descriptions are getting a bit whack in the industry...

"This is Thrasher's favorite twin"
"This is Thrasher's staple twin he takes everywhere"
"This is Thrasher's newest twin"
"This is Thrasher's highest performing twin"
"This is Thrasher's base twin"
"This is Thrasher's twin for when he wants to go fast "
"This is Thrasher's illegitimate twin dropped off at the Grand Canyon"

Lost might be buckwild on dropping new of the same models year after year but at least they describe the rail/bottom contours some and have some rocker shots.

Lot of overlap there but thats an amazing quiver!

does the plasmic EAST kind of act like a rear footed twinsman?

i kind of get that impression from outline/rocker shots.

Thanks for this!
I'm sitting on the Album sidelines and want to get into the game.
Long story short, I've been riding the hell out of my 5'6" Will's Fish and am looking for some sort of alternative step-up. I feel great on the fish until 1-2' overhead but after that I feel a bit out of control.
I've got longer more traditional step-ups at 6'2" and 6'9" that work great but can feel a bit long and unnecessary unless it's really pumping and/or lots of current/wind.
I'm hoping to land on something around 5'8"-5'9" that isn't a huge transition from the Will's Fish but offers a bit more control in heaving surf.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I need a little confidence boost on this YOLO.
Considering: Insanity, Twinsman/Twinsman RP, Lighbender/Lighbender RP.
Open to other ideas as well.
FWIW I'm 5'11" 175 and am usually surfing beach break.
Thanks guys

Lightbender is still pretty fishy and would overlap too much with the Wills I think. Bullet Twin RP could be added to the list as well as the Townsend although it sounds like maybe you don't want to go that long. I think the Insanity would be the most legit step up, offering a lot of hold in bigger surf. Mine is heavy glassed PU and one inch under my height (6'2") so it's definitely more of a step up but I could see one sized a bit shorter being more fun in smaller conditions. It has the beak nose and packs a lot of foam up front so it catches waves well but the tail is very narrow so compared to a fish it doesn't have that effortless glide and wants to be surfed a bit more like a traditional HPSB or step up.

I really like the TM RP as a mini stap and might be good for what you describe. The round pin holds in well, it's a good paddler, and the flat deck feels super stable IMO. With concave deck pushing the foam out to the rails, it feels bigger than its size (this could be tweaked by the thickness). So, I think you can keep it around 5'9-5'10 and it would do what you're asking. Mine is 6'1 (1/2" more than my height and 3" longer than my 5'10 TM SwallowTail) and I'd say it can feel like a 2-3" bigger boar (I can effectively use it like a 6'4)- I ride it in OH+ and it feels really confident. My next board up is 6'7 Townsend or 6'8 R. Blackbird.
I'd say Twinsman is a step further away from the fish than Lightblender, so LBRP might be an option if you prefer to stay closer to fishy feels. Shoot an email to Album and I'm sure Matt is familiar with WillsFish and can advise you on which direction to go.
